Finally - Some Stability and Consistency
Finally - Some Stability and Consistency
After three years of the Trump administration we will have some stability and consistency of enforcement in the Department of Labor’s Wage-Hour Division. The Senate approved Eugene Scalia as the Secretary of Labor. Scalia, the son of the late Antonin Scalia, Supreme Court Justice, brings to the office business skills and experience with the labor laws. Scalia comes with business experience unlike Obama’s Secretary Perez whose entire career was in education and no experience at even managing a law office.
After a three-year vacancy, Cheryl Stanton was approved as Wage-Hour Administrator. Ms. Stanton also comes with experience in business and state and federal management Both Scalia and Stanton served with the George W. Bush administration.
Unlike the extreme management and positions of the past administration, we should see a more practical and centric approach to enforcement that will benefit both labor and business.
