Mark left the U.S. Department of Labor in 1986 to begin private consulting. 

Recognized as an FLSA & Part 525 Commensurate Wage expert, Mark is frequently asked to speak for private, non-profit & public sector groups providing comprehensive compliance training. Mark has earned the SPHR, Senior Professional in Human Resources, from the Society for Human Resource Management, www.shrm.org.

Mark regularly conducts training for state associations, employers and employer associations. He conducts compliance reviews and assists employers during their USDOL Wage and Hour investigations. Since 1989, he has published The Knuckles Report, a monthly newsletter on human resource management & workplace regulation compliance. 

Mark is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He flew helicopters in Vietnam, earning 26 Air Medals and the Bronze Star. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Hickory, with current and past lay leadership responsibilities including Deacon Committee Chair, Youth Division Director, adult, youth and children teacher. He has also served on community boards including the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce. He lives in Hickory with his wife, Joy. They have two sons: John, a UNC-Charlotte graduate and now a customer developer for Coca Cola Consolidated, and James, a Graduate of Mars Hill College, who is the Finance and Conference Manager for the firm. 

Mark provides consultation, technical assistance, compliance reviews, and internal investigations for all types of employers and their legal counsel.
